Oink Oink!

I'm from Arkansas, and in Arkansas we love the Razorbacks! I actually got the idea to make little piggy cupcakes like these while watching Food Network's "Down Home with the Neelys." The cupcakes were a delicious strawberry cake covered in pink vanilla icing. The piggy faces were made using an assortment of candies, including: marshmallows, red hots, and sour peach gummies.  The other cupcakes were dashed with rainbow sprinkles and topped with a pretty gum paste flower.

Sweet Little Apple Blossoms

These cakes and cupcakes were made just for fun (and eaten the same way)! The cake was moist and delicious from a cake mix ... nothing wrong with using cake mix, especially on a small cake when you are just having fun decorating and can't wait to eat it! The cake was covered in vanilla icing and white fondant. The yellow and blue apple blossoms were made out of gum paste. As you can see, some of the lucky ones were given stems. The chocolate cupcakes were made for fun as well, but I wanted to show how pretty little flowers add a delicate and special touch to everything!

Cupcake Treats Indeed

If you look closely, you can see that these "cupcakes" are actually rice crispy treats. Because rice crispy treats are my sister Lisa's favorite, they were made for her wedding in place of a groom's cake. I thought this was a fun and easy idea worth sharing. My talented mom actually made all of the delicious cupcake treats with a perfect mixture of Rice Crispy Treats cereal, marshmallows, and butter, then molded all of the treats using a cupcake pan. I made the golden and orange toned Impatiens and Apple Blossom flowers placed on top out of gum paste. They added a soft and delicate touch while giving a hint of warm color.

Pink and White Hydrangeas

This cake was for my sister Lydia's wedding. It was made of white sponge cake with lemon filling, lemon cake with lemon and vanilla buttercream filling, and chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream filling. All of the cakes were covered in rich vanilla buttercream, hand-piped with a pretty pink hydrangea pattern,  wrapped with a silvery-gray ribbon, and topped with dozens of fresh white hydrangeas and plump white roses. For a creative touch, the cakes were placed on a rustic plant stand which added lovely height and visual interest.

White with Red Roses

This cake was for my sister Leslie's wedding. It was six tiers of white sponge cake filled with yummy lemon and raspberry filling and all covered in rich vanilla buttercream. The cakes were hand piped with a pretty swirl pattern, detailed with a little sparkle gel, and topped with crystal sprinkles for a sweet crunch. The cake was supported by Wilton's Tall Tier Cake Stand and layered gracefully with dozens of fresh red roses.

Pretty in Pearls

This cake was for my sister Lisa's wedding. It was made with white sponge cake, white buttercream, and lots of white fondant.  It was four tiers of delicious raspberry and lemon filling. The flowers and pearls were made from gum paste, and I used plenty of shimmer dust to create the glowing effect.
