Spring Green!

This cake was for the display window at the bakery. I wanted to do something springy and green but not particular to St. Patricks day. Although you would not want to cut into this one (it's styrofoam), I thought the exterior turned out cute and fun. Hopefully it will inspire customers to order custom springs cakes! :)

Blue & Yellow Valentine Wedding

We had a frantic bride call into the bakery a few days ago, asking if we could make her a little cake for her impromptu wedding in three days (Valentine's Day). We were happy to make the cake. She chose the bakery's highly popular and delicious strawberry cream cake, which is yellow cake layered with fresh whip cream and yummy strawberry filling. Usually the cake is covered with whip cream and strawberries, but because this cake was tiered we used white buttercream. The bride chose royal blue ribbon and yellow scroll details, which she was very happy with, and I think turned out lovely! (And would have looked awesome with a 3rd or 4th tier on top!)  :)

40 and Fabulous!

Recently I got a job at a bakery called Sweet Indulgence in Illinois. This cute cake was decorated as a surprise 40th anniversary from a husband surprising his wife with a trip to Cancun! We all thought it was a fabulous idea! The cake was the bakery's delicious yellow cake with white butter cream. Yum! Who wants to go to the beach now?? I know I do!

Wonderful Onesies!

I wish I could say that I made these beautiful cake pops, but I did not. My talented sister Leslie made them for her sister-in-law's baby shower! (She's having twins: a boy and a girl!) She made them by combining crumbled cake and icing, shaping the onesies, dipping them in candy coating, and decorating them. Of course there were a few tricks in between to make them look so perfect! We learned about cake pops from a wildly popular blog, Bakerella.com, made by Angie Dudley. I highly recommend her site. She has awesome pictures and very creative ideas.
Good job one the Onesie pops Leslie!
